About Split

Split – 1700 years of tradition

The town of Split with its 1700 years long history grew up from the palace of roman cezar Diocletian, which is the part of world inheritance of UNESCO. It spread from the middle aged ambiental settlement of Split fishermen and labourers at the foot of the praised in song hill Marjan ( today the park of nature with different recreational contents : trim paths, beaches, cycling sport, tennis, free climbing) to modern buildings in Žnjan, where “Apartmani M “ are located.

Split – traffic centre

Thanks to its natural position it grew up into the biggest passenger port on the Adriatic Sea, and it is connected with car – ferry and quick catamaran lines with middle Dalmatian Islands (Brač, Hvar, Šolta, Vis, Korčula, Lastovo) and with international lines with Italy (Ancona, Pescara) and Greece (Igoumenitsa). Train and bus station by which Split is connected with Europe across Zagreb are near the port, and the international airport is in a distance of 20 km.

Split - tourist and cultural centre

Split is tourist and cultural centre of Dalmatia with the Croatian National Theatre and its summer manifestation “Split Summer” (from 15.07 till 15.08.) whose repertoire consists of operas, concerts, classical music, and dramas, of the old masters and also modern ones. In Split there are many museums and galleries, among which you shouldn't miss the Gallery Meštrović on the south slope of Marjan and Archaeological Museum which is the witness of rich history of those areas from prehistoric times, then Ancient times and Middle Ages until today.

Split is situated in the region of the maditerranean climat, which offers the gifts of mild winters and summer breezes with many sunny days. There is not hardly a day, even in winter when you cannot enjoy the warmth of sunny rays. Thanks to its position on the peninsula it is cold in summer and warm in winter, because it is on all sides surrounded by the sea. The temperature of the sea from May to November is over 20 degrees Celsius and it is ideal for swimming.
For years old Split will accept you young in spirit, what you can become sure when you walk down the beautiful Split Coast full of sun and strollers, and then you sit in one of many catering terraces enjoying your ritual pleasure of drinking coffee.
